Bakerrae
Rhea Abayan is the owner of Bakerrae, a bakery in Toronto. She started this business while working full-time as a COVID test nurse during the pandemic.
Combatting COVID fatigue, baking was her creative escape. She always wanted to open up a cafe and opening this bakery was a step towards this dream.
She makes Filipino-inspired baked goods and coffee all from scratch and has been popping up around the city for the last three years.
Woman-run. Hand-made. Asian flavors.
Bakerrae is a personal journey to Filipino flavors — drawing upon Rhea’s childhood with a twist.
Toronto’s food scene is seeing many pandemic pivots, but Bakerrae aims to explore new ground: you won’t find anyone else topping croissant-like pastries with calamansi curd or caramelized onions in soy sauce anywhere else.
Thoughtfully made in small batches. From scratch.
This bakery is a physical manifestation of Rhea’s passions – creating and baking.
It’s a space where to grow and create products that she loves, and knows you will love too!
Rhea is inspired by her Filipino culture and childhood memories, and she want’s to share these unique flavors with you.
