The story began when our ancestors introduced the European version of the bagel—sweeter than the typical Toronto bagel—to North America in the early 1900s. After weeks of sailing from Europe to Montreal, their dream was to share the beloved recipe they grew up with. Decades later, one of their descendants decided to bring the Montreal bagel tradition to Toronto, opening the city’s first Montreal bagel shop, which quickly became a success.

At St Urbain Bagel, we carry on this tradition that has been passed down for generations, with hopes of continuing it for another century. As a family-owned and operated business, we pride ourselves on offering the freshest, highest-quality products made with the finest Canadian ingredients. This commitment is why we’ve been voted the best bagel in Toronto for many years.
